Daniel and his friends sort the wisdom of God for the interpretation of the king’s dream and God answered them. It was accounted that the first thing Daniel did was to acknowledge the glory of God. “So Daniel blessed the God of heaven”. Because God revealed the King’s dream to Daniel, the King acknowledged God and proclaimed that He is the God of all gods and Lord of Kings even though he did not previously believe in the God of Daniel.
The profound action of Daniel was his reverence to God, he blessed God and rendered praises to Him for granting him wisdom. He did not take the glory of his actions before the king, instead, he established the supremacy of God before the king and others.
This is exactly the call of God to us, to reflect the glory of God in all our actions. Sometimes we get carried away by our attributes of wisdom and intelligence, success and great achievements and we fail to acknowledge that the excellent Spirit of God is the reason behind it all. Every good gift or talent given to us by God is for His glory.
The Spirit of humility is paramount in learning to give all glory to God, acknowledging that your successes and breakthroughs are through the grace of God and not solely by your own wisdom and effort requires humility. It is of no wonder, God mentioned that He gives more grace to the humble. Humble yourself before the Lord and He will exalt you just like He did for Daniel.
We need to stop and reflect on our motives whenever we pray for breakthrough, are we asking for breakthrough and excellence for our own selfish needs and ego or like Daniel, are we going to acknowledge the glory of God through our lives, breakthroughs and show of excellence?
For every answered prayer, for every success and breakthrough, for everything we do and achieve , remember to give all the glory to God.
Prayer of Daniel giving glory to God. Daniel 2:21-23
Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
For wisdom and might are His.
And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
He reveals deep and secret things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And light dwells with Him.
I thank You and praise You,
O God of my fathers;
You have given me wisdom and might,
And have now made known to me what we asked of You,
For You have made known to us the king’s demand.
